English

English at KES builds the foundation for communication, comprehension, and critical thinking. From phonics and storytelling in lower grades to academic writing and analysis in upper levels, students develop fluency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Mathematics

Mathematics fosters logical reasoning, problem-solving, and numerical literacy. Students begin with number sense, patterns, and shapes, and progress toward complex operations, algebra, and geometry. General Science

Science at KES ignites curiosity about the world. Learners explore topics through observation, experimentation, and inquiry-based lessons. Social Studies

ICT (Information & Communication Technology)

Myanmar Language

As a core part of cultural identity, Myanmar language classes develop fluency in reading, writing, and speaking. Students engage with local literature, values, and traditions, building pride and understanding of their heritage. Lessons are interactive, with a strong emphasis on respectful communication and clarity of expression.

Chinese Language (Mandarin)

The Chinese program strengthens communication and intercultural understanding. Early years focus on spoken Mandarin and Pinyin through songs and games. From Primary 3 onward, students follow the structured HanYe curriculum to build reading, writing, and conversational skills. The focus remains on functional language use and confidence.

Physical Education (PE)

PE promotes physical health, coordination, teamwork, and resilience. From fun games and basic movements in early years to team sports and structured fitness in upper levels, students develop strength, stamina, and sportsmanship. Music (Piano/Guitar)

Students choose either piano or guitar and follow a 10-level skill progression system unique to KES. Music classes focus on technique, rhythm, creativity, and expression. Students learn to read music, perform with confidence, and reflect on their growth through portfolio work — developing discipline, patience, and artistic appreciation.

Elementary School Program (Primary 1 to Primary 3)

"Building Strong Foundations Through Joyful Learning"

At the heart of our Elementary School is a deep belief that early education must be meaningful, engaging, and fun. From Primary 1 to Primary 3, students begin their formal learning journey in a nurturing environment designed to spark curiosity and confidence.

Key Features:

Play-Based & Literacy-Rich Environment: Learning happens through guided exploration, stories, games, and interactive lessons — ideal for this developmental stage.
Core Subjects Introduced:
English – Listening, speaking, reading, and writing foundations using phonics and story-based learning.
Mathematics – Number sense, counting, shapes, and early problem-solving.
Science – Observation, classification, and simple experiments to understand the world.
Social Studies – Identity, family, and community awareness.
Language Development:
Chinese (Pinyin Focus): Fun and oral-based introduction to Mandarin through songs and stories. From Primary 3, students begin using the Hanyu 1 textbook as part of their formal Mandarin learning journey.

Middle School Program (Primary 4 to Primary 6)

"Expanding Horizons, Deepening Skills"

Our Middle School program is where students begin to take greater ownership of their learning. From Primary 4 to Primary 6, we move from exploration to structure, encouraging both academic growth and character development.

Key Features:

Increased Academic Depth:
Stronger focus on grammar, reading comprehension, paragraph writing, and mathematical operations.
Project-based Science and Social Studies tied to real-world applications.
Language Programs:
Chinese – Students begin structured textbook use:
HanYe 2 (P4), HanYe 3 (P5), and HanYe 4 (P6).
Focus is still on functional Mandarin with interactive class activities.
ICT Curriculum: Introduction to typing, presentations, online safety, and basic programming.
Performing Arts: Students choose an instrument (Piano or Guitar) and follow the KES Skill-Level Assessment (Level 0–10 system).
Assessment Approach:
Three termly exams per year.
Diagnostic tests in English, Math, and Science as needed.
Values & Leadership: Weekly journal writing, discussions on ethics, and light leadership roles in class or group projects.

High School Program (Secondary 1, Pre-IGCSE, and IGCSE)

"Preparing for the World Beyond School"

Our High School program is tailored to prepare students for both international examinations and real-life skills. It builds academic mastery, independence, and personal responsibility — key traits for success in higher education and life.

Secondary 1

A bridge year between primary and IGCSE, focusing on readiness.

Subjects: English, Extended Math, General Science, Social Studies, Chinese (HanYe 5), ICT, PE, and Performing Arts.
Strong focus on refining writing, research, and analytical thinking.
Students continue instrument or art pathway with formal assessments.

Pre-IGCSE

A foundational year to prepare students for the Cambridge IGCSE syllabus.

Core academic structure is aligned to IGCSE skill sets.
Focus on English for Academic Purposes, foundational Economics, Business Studies, and Scientific Methodology.
Emphasis on exam techniques, time management, and critical thinking.

IGCSE (Grades 9 & 10 Equivalent)

Students formally enter the Cambridge IGCSE track.

Subjects offered may include:
English as a Second Language (ESL)

Business Studies, Accounting, Economics
ICT
Assessments include coursework, practicals, and past-paper drills.
Mock exams each term leading to external IGCSE exams.

Class

Primary 1

The journey begins in a joyful, supportive setting where students transition into formal education. Emphasis is placed on routine, curiosity, and foundational learning. Through phonics, storytelling, hands-on math, and simple science explorations, learners build early literacy and numeracy while developing key social skills.

Primary 2

Students gain greater confidence as they expand their reading, writing, and numerical problem-solving abilities. Lessons remain playful and interactive, while introducing more structure and classroom independence. Music, early ICT skills, and collaborative activities enrich the learning experience.

Primary 3

Students begin to engage with more academic vocabulary and take on increased independence in their work. Writing progresses to paragraphs, math becomes more analytical, and science introduces cause-effect reasoning. Reflection and moral thinking are introduced through journal writing and story-based discussions.

Primary 4

This is a transitional year where students move into more structured learning. Chinese language instruction begins with HanYe 1, and core subjects focus on deeper comprehension and application. ICT, research projects, and presentations become regular parts of class life, encouraging students to take more responsibility for their learning.

Primary 5

Learners deepen their understanding of core subjects and begin to think more critically. Academic challenges increase with more complex reading texts, applied math, and hands-on science. With HanYe 2 in Chinese, students expand both vocabulary and sentence construction. Classroom leadership and collaboration are emphasized.

Primary 6

The final year of primary education focuses on readiness for secondary school. Students are guided through advanced writing, reasoning, and test preparation. Subjects emphasize mastery and application, while HanYe 3 provides a strong foundation in Chinese. Personal growth and self-directed learning become key goals.

Secondary 1

Learners are introduced to subject-based learning and increased academic expectations. A balance of core and elective subjects — including HanYe 4 in Chinese — prepares students for the structure and pace of upper secondary. Study habits, research skills, and global thinking are core development areas.

Pre-IGCSE

Designed to ease the transition into the IGCSE program, this year strengthens academic English, numeracy, and independent learning. Students are introduced to new disciplines like Business and Economics while focusing on essay writing, analytical thinking, and time management in preparation for formal exams.

IGCSE

As part of the Cambridge curriculum, students undertake rigorous coursework and international examinations. Subjects such as Math, Science, English, and Social Studies require research, critical inquiry, and academic discipline. This final phase of high school prepares learners for university pathways and global opportunitie.
